With the Easter weekend fast approaching many people are putting their diets on hold and tucking into a pile of Easter eggs.
If you fall into this category and want to enjoy your chocolate treats, now might be a good time to stop reading.
A fitness expert has revealed how long it takes to burn off an Easter egg - and it's probably a lot longer than you think.
Burning off a 'deluxe' Easter egg (right) requires a person to walk for four hours or run for 80 minutes. Image also shows how much exercise a person has to do to burn off a Cadbury's Creme Egg and a Dairy Milk egg
Personal trainer and nutrition coach Darren Casey says more than four hours of walking is required to burn the calories in a ‘deluxe’ Easter egg.
Alternatively, he says the 800 calories in one of these indulgent eggs can be burned through 80 minutes of running at six miles per hour.
Some 15 to 20 minutes of hard metabolic training - i.e. interval training - would also do the trick, as would 61 minutes of burpees.
These involve dropping from a standing position into a squatting position, followed by kicking back your feet so you are in a push-up position and then jumping back to a squatting position before jumping back to a standing stance.
And when it comes to calorie burning for smaller Easter Eggs, the news is slightly better.
Burning off one Cadbury's Creme Egg would require a person to walk for about 50 minutes non-stop. Table shows how much exercise is required to work off three different types of egg
Burning a Nestle Chocolate Hollow Egg takes an hour and 15 minutes of walking
Mr Casey, UK Fitness expert, for Full & Slim, says that burning off a single Cadbury's Creme Egg requires 50 minutes of walking or 20 minutes of running.
Alternatively, he says one Creme Egg can be dispatched through eight minutes of metabolic training or 13 minutes of burpees.
And as for a Nestle Chocolate Hollow Egg, an hour and 15 minutes walking or 35 minutes non-stop running would do the trick.
So would 17 minutes metabolic training or 19 minutes of burpees.
