Diagnosed with Atopic Eczema in 2010 following retirement from work. This has been one of the most uncomfortable conditions I have ever endured. Debilitating, uncomfortable, itchy, feeling of anguish and anxiety, insomnia because of itching and scratching, constant washing of clothes and sheets. Can only wear cotton and as a female, wearing a bra, is my worst nightmare. How to become a contortionist in the middle of the night to reach the itch on your back that would be out of reach normally. Catching scabbed areas and bleeding constantly - dabbing with tissues and TCP swabs. Not wanting to go anywhere because of embarrassment of soiling sheets with blood spots. We need urgent research on Eczema to cure this awful condition now! I feel so sorry your young children who have this condition and all that is offered is cortiso-steroid injections for temporary relief, topical steroid creams and awful creams that don't soak in and make the itching worse. Come on we want an end to this and in the 21st Century we should have a cure. Ok not life threatening but I bet a lot of people have committed suicide because they have found the condition unbearable.Only people close to you know what you are going through but feel helpless. My sister is so good and applies my creams to my back with seems always to be the worst area. I recently had another Kenalog jab so condition has eased a little but still itchy at night. Also taking steroid tablets or an unknown virus being investigated.
