The perfect person to turn to for support when dreaded cravings kick in is a romantic partner

With bikini diets well under way it seems those who are in a relationship may find shedding the pounds easier than singletons.
More than half of dieters reveal the perfect person to turn to for support when dreaded cravings kick in is their beloved other half.
New research also shows that eating the same healthy meals as their partner helps keep slimmers on the straight and narrow.
Meanwhile singletons may need top rely on potent will power to fight temptation that lies around every corner - just one in seven dieters said their friends are most supportive when they're trying to be good.
Researchers asked 500 dieters: 'Which person in your life is usually the most supportive when it comes to your dieting?'
Most of the time that's a slimmer's romantic partner.
More than half (54 per cent) of people will rely on their other half to keep them on the straight and narrow, and focused on their weight-loss goal.
Friends are the next biggest support network, with 16 per cent of us counting on them to snatch the biscuit tin away when we have a moment of weakness.

The survey, commissioned by healthy weight loss and diet tool website WeightLossResources.co.uk, found that 81 per cent of us actively enjoy learning about, and discussing, nutrition and exercise.

But when it comes to charting our progress and discussing our goals, two thirds (64 per cent) are far happier doing that with other people who are dieting than with those who eat whatever comes their way.

MOST SUPPORTIVE FOR DIETERS

Asked about the hardest time to try and stick to their healthy eating plan, almost a third (30 per cent) of dieters confessed it was when it was out with friends. Just over a third find staying at home with their partner or family just as difficult (33.6 per cent).
Family functions prove a difficult place for almost a quarter of dieters (23 per cent). But work functions seem to be a relatively easy situation to dodge the calories, with just 13 per cent of dieters considering them tricky.
Laurence Beeken, nutritionist at weightlossresources.co.uk, tells MailOnline: 'We recognise that support is an integral part of any weight loss programme and what better person to share it with than your partner.
'They'll invariably offer support and share the highs and lows with you - especially if they're losing weight along with you.
'Studies over the years have shown that partners who team up to lose weight or get fit together are more successful than individuals who go it alone.
'A study from Indiana University showed that the 12-month drop-out rate for couples participating in a fitness program was just 6 per cent, compared to 43 per cent among individuals who joined the programme alone.'
